Picture Perfect – When It Comes To Cutting Edge Home Cinema Solutions, Finite Solutions has the Masterplan
When you’re in the property development business and you are building your own place, you want it to be just right and this successful entrepreneur knew exactly what he wanted for his family’s entertainment room. For their home, this family wanted a top notch home cinema system that did not impact on the design of the interior - the best of both worlds.Their demand for a high end system that would be accommodated in a contemporary space without sacrificing performance was at the top of the wish list and turned to Finite Solutions for the answer. They stressed that the 'boys toys' look, all gadgets, boxes and cables was not an option as it had to work as a living space in its own right. In consultation with Amin Shafi from Finite Solutions, Artcoustic became an obvious solution to provide all the performance of a serious cinema system, whilst working with, rather than against the interior design of the room. Finite Solutions wasted no time and after several meetings with the owners drafted the optimal plan. The clients’ brief was for state of the art audio among modern and contemporary lines – simple, stylish and uncluttered. They wanted a room within their home that not only was a cool, relaxed space for entertaining, but also contained a stunning home cinema system. Thus the room had to serve several purposes – allow for a dynamic home cinema system that could be easily transformed into a cosy area and lounge with a high end music system for entertaining. For today’s modern living and especially in big cities where space is a premium it is important to have versatile and multi-usage of rooms.
A major challenge for Finite Solutions was to integrate the home cinema system within the physical constraints of the space available and make it aesthetically appealing. The solution was to provide the best of the best in home cinema and audio and careful planning was required to maximise the use of space. Because the room would serve as the family cinema room and entertainment area in its compact size it required some sophisticated solutions. It was also important to ensure the room and the system combined would make a statement in its own right and that function and appearance go hand in hand when it came to creating a modern, simple and cosy atmosphere. Finite Solutions was also aware that the clients’ sense of refinement incorporated vibrant colours, elegant yet comfortable furnishings and carpets as well as an eclectic hue for the walls.
The speakers are all Artcoustic, chosen for their looks and performance. As Amin explains, "Three Artcoustic Diablo Monitors were chosen for the left,centre and right channels. The best system designs have three identical loudspeakers across the front to ensure seamless integration. Three identical speakers, all at exactly the same height with the same distance between them offered the best performance as well as the best aesthetic design." Simple black speaker screens were selected for the speakers to complement the walls. Bass duties are taken care of by the Artcoustic DFS100-75 subwoofer driven from the new PA1800. Four 10" bass units provide all the low end demanded from serious home cinema systems, whilst its design maintains the clean lines the room calls for. The system is driven by an Arcam FMJ Processor. Finite Solutions selected an 8ft wide Screen Research acoustically transparent screen. This motorised screen is mounted into the ceiling in front of the Artcoustic Diablo monitors. When movies are viewed, the sleek Goelst motorised blinds are closed, a Sim2 C3X lite projector, which has been chosen for its excellent performance, is switched on and when the screen drops down in front of the Diablo monitors this client receives a true experience of integrated sound and image, exceptional sound performance for everything from tense dramas to hair-raising cloak-and-daggers.
When not in use the screen sits discreetly in the ceiling allowing for a technology free room. The client can adjust the Rako lighting to exude the right ambience and select their favorite tunes off of the Idyl Media Server, their central respository for all of their favorite music, videos and games. The result is a calm and relaxing room featuring state of the art technology and design.
