It's often the things you can't see that make all the difference to your comfort level. And for the owner of this luxurious home in Benfleet Essex, that was precisely his brief to Smart Media Solutions when he commissioned them to upgrade the family’s home entertainment system during an extensive expansion and refurbishment.
Smart Media Solutions had installed the owner’s previous systems several years earlier and the client had full trust in them to provide a fully automated home entertainment system complete with lighting, AV control, CCTV and security.
Inside, the home is elegant yet comfortable. Contemporary furnishings are laid out throughout the residence. There are several entertainment areas inside the home where the family can relax and entertain guests. The one family lounge area features elegant crème leathered sofas and plush carpeting and this large space integrates the latest in audio technology with contemporary design. Artcoustic was the first choice for the owners when it came to deciding on a high end loudspeaker system. A large plasma screen sits perfectly between a pair of DF100-75 X2 Full Range Loudspeaker kitted out with funky flowered screens by Meystyle and a DF-Multi X2 50” sits neatly below embedded in the wall. To complete the system, four Diablo Monitor X2 Loudspeakers are located in the rear of the room and placed on the walls for the surround sound. This powerful system provides an ideal cinema experience but also allows the owners to enjoy their favourite music while relaxing in their home. The sleek and sophisticated styling of the Artcoustic speakers also ensures they look great even when they are not in use. Inside the master bedroom which is fit for a King and Queen, with its plush black and grey décor, a DF-Multi X2 42” is used along with a large plasma screen which can be lowered automatically from the ceiling.
"It was important to retain the uncluttered look of the interior," says Stephen Cross of Smart Media Solutions. "We didn't want anything to be intrusive.” All audio equipment had to be hidden. Simplicity was also a key element of the design brief but not at the expense of advanced technology. The audiovisual equipment, lighting, blinds, and security all needed to be fully automated, but the system also had to be simple to use. The solution was a Crestron system, which is controlled by four touch panel screens, including a wireless touch panel screen that allows the owner to change settings from the comfort of an armchair.
The Smart Media Solutions team have achieved a superb quality installation which sits in harmony with the chic contemporary interior of the home. The owner is delighted with the results which have produced a home full of imaginative ideas and creative flair.
