the danish loudspeaker brand, Artcoustic

  • Artcoustic is a Danish loudspeaker manufacturer founded in 1998 by Kim Donvig and Patricia Ljungberg. The brand integrates timeless Danish design with high-performance audio engineering — combining the aesthetics of interior design with the precision of professional sound. All speakers are handcrafted in Europe and distributed in more than 35 countries.

  • The founders asked, “Why can’t high-end loudspeakers look as good as they sound?” That question became the foundation for Artcoustic’s philosophy — uniting form and function in a new category of design-led performance audio.

  • Artcoustic merges Hi-Fi clarity with Pro-Audio dynamics, achieving reference-level performance from ultra-slim, modular cabinets. Every model shares the same design DNA — scalable, timbre-matched, and visually adaptable for any environment.

Choosing the right loudspeaker and sound system

  • The size and shape of your room play a big role in how speakers perform. For smaller rooms or close listening positions, more compact speakers (e.g. bookshelf or slim on-wall) are often ideal. For larger rooms or if you sit farther away, you may benefit from larger enclosures or line-array models that can move more air and deliver fuller bass and dynamic range.

  • It depends on your listening preferences. If you mostly listen to vocals, acoustic music, or casual listening, a well-built speaker can be enough. But if you want deep bass for movies, orchestral music or more powerful dynamic range, a subwoofer will noticeably improve the experience — especially in larger rooms. Many high-end setups split bass duties to a dedicated subwoofer to let the main speakers focus on clarity and mid/high fidelity.

  • Passive speakers need an external amplifier or receiver, giving you flexibility to choose amplification based on your preferences. Active (powered) speakers have built-in amplification and are often easier to set up — good for simpler or space-constrained installations. The right choice depends on whether you prioritize flexibility (passive) or convenience (active).

  • Quite a lot. The position of the speakers relative to walls, floor, ceiling — and your listening position — can change how bass, treble and stereo imaging feel. Also, room materials (hard floors, tiles, glass, furniture) influence reflections and frequency response. It’s often worth experimenting with placement (or using rugs / curtains / panels) to get the best sound.

  • Yes. Because all our speakers share the same driver materials and crossover architecture, their tonal balance is matched. That means combining models (e.g. main speakers, subwoofers, rear channels) preserves coherence in sound, giving a consistent character across different configurations.

  • Yes. Thanks to the consistent timbre across all models, you can mix series or types (on-wall, in-ceiling, subwoofer, line-array) and still get a coherent overall sound. This flexibility makes it easier to tailor a system to your room and use — whether stereo music, movies or a full home cinema.

  • Absolutely. Our speakers don’t just sound great — they’re designed to fit into real homes. You can choose from standard finishes (e.g. black or white), or specify custom colours (e.g. via NCS or RAL). Front grilles are removable and can be replaced with different fabric colours — or even custom artwork — so speakers blend seamlessly into your interior.

  • That depends on the room size, listening level and whether you add a subwoofer. Because our speakers have high sensitivity / SPL-per-watt, you often don’t need a very powerful amplifier to reach cinematic-level volumes. That said, always match amplifier power and impedance to the speaker’s specification to avoid distortion or damage — and ask your dealer if unsure.

  • Yes. Many of our models are designed for easy installation: on-wall, in-wall or behind-screen mounting is possible. This makes them ideal for home cinemas and discreet installations while maintaining full performance.

  • Artcoustic loudspeakers are built to deliver true cinema-grade performance, handcrafted quality and long-term reliability — yet most customers are surprised by how accessible our systems actually are.

Your local Artcoustic partner can show you the different options and help you match the right solution to your room, budget and needs.

The best way to understand the value is to experience the sound in person — once you hear them, the performance speaks for itself.

Loudspeaker Performance & Technology

  • Artcoustic is an industry leader in Sound Pressure Level (SPL) per watt. High-sensitivity designs deliver Dolby-reference dynamic range (105 dB) using relatively low amplifier power. This allows systems to reach cinematic levels with exceptional clarity and headroom.

  • Traditional Hi-Fi speakers excel in clarity but lack output; Pro Audio excels in power but requires deep cabinets. Artcoustic’s hybrid line-array approach combines both — compact Hi-Fi drivers arranged in mathematically aligned arrays to achieve high output and clean midrange response.

  • Line-array design places multiple tweeters and mid-woofers in precise alignment to control vertical dispersion and minimize floor/ceiling reflections. The result is higher sensitivity, greater power handling, and a cleaner, more detailed sound — inspired by professional cinema and concert-hall systems.

  • All Artcoustic speakers share identical driver materials and crossover architecture, ensuring a consistent tonal balance across the range. This makes multi-speaker systems (stereo, surround, or full cinema) sound cohesive and natural.

  • Artcoustic separates low-frequency duties into dedicated subwoofers, allowing mid-high speakers to operate in their optimal range. This improves clarity, dynamics, and placement flexibility — ideal for modern home cinemas.

  • The Artcoustic Subwoofer Series uses 6th-order bandpass designs refined over 20 years. They produce deep, controlled bass with reduced cone excursion, extended durability, and high efficiency — ensuring consistent output for studios, cinemas, and installations.

  • Artcoustic loudspeakers meet and exceed Dolby Atmos output standards (105–115 dB) and are officially included in Dolby’s DARDT (Dolby Atmos Room Design Tool). The modular system ensures precise spatial resolution for any immersive setup.

Speaker Design & Craftsmanship

  • All speakers are hand-built in Europe, crafted by skilled artisans using premium materials to ensure performance and longevity.

  • Artcoustic’s Slimline Series achieves high output from cabinets only a few centimetres deep — designed to complement modern architecture while maintaining full dynamic performance.

  • Yes. Choose from standard black or white, or specify any NCS 1950/2050 or RAL Classic colour. This allows visual integration into any interior design scheme.

  • Absolutely. Front screens are magnetically attached and fully interchangeable. You can select from different fabric colours or print any digital artwork — either from Artcoustic’s curated gallery or your own design.

loudSpeaker Product Range

  • The collection includes four core series: SL Series – slim, modular on-wall speakers for residential and cinema use; Spitfire Series – high-output line-array systems for larger or professional spaces; CPH Series – lifestyle models for compact environments; Subwoofer Series – advanced bandpass subs for infra-bass precision.

  • Yes. All share identical timbre, allowing you to combine models from different series while maintaining a consistent tonal character.
