Congratulations to Baljinder, Hass and the team at SmartLX for this month's stunning project.
This three tier cinema, installed in the basement of a beautiful property in London, features Artcoustic speakers throughout. The main challenge with a room of this style is being able to have enough dynamic range over a longer distance, whilst having controlled dispersion to reduce the room interaction. From the first design meetings, Artcoustic, Baljinder and Hass worked through these technical issue to ensure no technical surprises on site for either the installers or the client.

The clients constructed a brand-new property with various entertainment facilities in the basement, including a cinema room, swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, games room, and gym. From the beginning, they had intended to include a dedicated cinema room with tiered seating as a focal point to entertain their family and friends. Given their love for movies, it held significant importance within the overall construction plans. Working with interior designer Robert Ernstzen (Ernstzen & Ernstzen Limited), the end results are superb.
The clients entrusted SmartLX with the setup and design of their cinema room, providing a clear brief. They wanted a system that not only showcased the latest technology but also created a warm and comfortable space, with no visible tech components. All the technology was concealed, with speakers placed behind fabric walls in the correct locations for spatial resolution according to Dolby's guidelines, and a 4m wide, acoustically transparent screen covered the Spitfire A12 LCR. With the cinema room featuring three tiers, precise design was crucial, and Artcoustic's design service played a pivotal role in achieving this goal.
