Unused space turned into a daily cinema experience

This month's Installation of the Month goes to Martin Wakefield and the team at Wakefields for transforming a rarely used room into a fully featured Dolby Atmos cinema that's now enjoyed almost daily by the family.

The brief was simple: make better use of an unloved space and turn it into something special. After a demo in Wakefields' Newcastle showroom and a detailed design consultation, the client doubled their original budget to achieve the performance and experience they wanted.

The system includes:

Evolve 6-3 LCR speakers

Evolve 2-1 surrounds

Architect 2-1 overhead

2 × SUB 3-12 subwoofers

A full suite of Artcoustic design support tools backed the project—starting with a showroom demonstration that helped define expectations and set performance targets. Room analysis, 3D renders, RP22 checklist documentation, a walkthrough proposal, and in-depth calibration support ensured the design met its goals at every stage.

“After the demo and understanding what was really required to achieve that level of performance, the client doubled their original budget. They knew what they wanted—and we had the tools and support to deliver it.”
— Wakefields quote

Interior design was handled by Fleur Interiors of Newcastle, who brought cohesion and warmth to the space through wallpaper, lighting, and furnishings.

We can see how delighted the client is—and knowing they use the room most days gives us huge satisfaction. It’s a job well done.
