A BASEMENT TRANSFORMED: DARK CREATIVE DELIVER CINEMA WITH IMPACT
Adam Kraemer-Dent and the team at Dark Creative took on a technically awkward basement space and turned it into a high-performance 9.2.4 home cinema that punches well above its weight.
The room came with compromises. Located in a flood plain, it had multiple access points for pumps and drainage around the perimeter. The initial idea was fairly simple: a TV, some speakers, a bar. But after visiting the Artcoustic demo facility, the clients’ expectations changed and the design evolved with them.
“We weren’t expecting the room to sound so huge from the speakers we put in. We’re used to using fewer, larger speakers so we were surprised. But now I get it.
The imagination used to create the space from what was there is outrageous. The team walked us through everything and covered every detail, many of which we’d never have even thought about. We still smile to ourselves every time a film makes us jump or rattles through our bones.”
The result is not just visually clean—it’s powerful and deeply immersive. The lighting, layout, and acoustic performance were all refined to suit the compact space without compromise.
The client was involved throughout the process, supported by visual renders, walkthroughs, and system demonstrations - all backed by Artcoustic’s design tools.
“Once the design clicked, it was easy to follow. The process helped us secure the project and deliver something the client will enjoy for years to come.”
