GLO AV CREATE A TEXAS RANCH-INSPIRED CINEMA RETREAT IN THE COTSWOLDS
By GLO AV, in collaboration with Cinema Luxe
Some cinema rooms feel separate from the house they sit in.
This one was designed to feel fully connected to it.
Set within a luxury lake house in the Cotswolds, the brief for this project was ambitious from the start. The client wanted a home with a strong Texas Ranch-inspired identity. Warm timber. Dark metalwork. Leather. Rich textures and earthy tones throughout. Technology needed to support that vision, not dominate it.
The cinema became the centrepiece of a much larger entertainment concept across the property. Alongside the dedicated theatre space, the games room, rum bar and open-plan living areas all needed to feel visually and sonically connected. The challenge was achieving serious performance while keeping the technology discreet, natural and easy to live with.
Working alongside Cinema Luxe, who designed and built the cinema space in keeping with the wider property aesthetic, GLO AV focused on delivering a system that felt fully integrated into the architecture and interior design, rather than layered on afterwards.
For GLO AV, that made Artcoustic the obvious choice.
This was never just about one cinema room.
The system needed to deliver a consistent sound character across the entire property, while still adapting visually to each individual space. Custom sizing, grille finishes and RAL colour matching allowed the speakers to sit naturally within the architecture and joinery, rather than looking like technical add-ons.
The dedicated cinema uses a full immersive Artcoustic layout built around Spitfire Q6-3 LCR speakers, supported by SL Architect and SL Evolve models for the surround and height channels. A 120-inch acoustically transparent Screen Research screen allowed the front soundstage to sit directly behind the image, locking dialogue and effects naturally to the screen.
Bass performance came from dual Artcoustic Sub 2-12 subwoofers with dedicated amplification. Rather than chasing exaggerated low end, the focus was on achieving smooth and consistent bass across both seating rows, avoiding the common issue of one seat sounding overwhelming while another lacks impact.
The wider system integration is equally comprehensive.
Lutron lighting and blackout control, Moovia Marbella motorised seating, bespoke acoustic treatment, integrated LED lighting, Savant control and a JVC native 4K laser projector all combine to create a room that feels cinematic without becoming overly technical.
Artcoustic's design support also played an important role early in the process. Using 3D visualisations helped the client understand how the cinema, finishes, seating and technology would work together as a complete environment, rather than as disconnected technical components. That confidence helped expand the project beyond its original scope.
The client's reaction after the first demo?
"This is f***ing cool."
Simple, honest, and probably the best kind of feedback you can get after months of detailed design and installation work.
For GLO AV, the success of the project goes beyond the cinema itself. The real achievement is how naturally the entire entertainment system sits within the property. Nothing feels forced. Nothing fights against the architecture or interior design. The technology simply becomes part of the experience of living in the home.
That balance between performance, integration and design restraint is what makes this installation stand out.
